Do I need a Visa for a Business Trip to Indonesia?


One of the requirements to make a business trip to Indonesia is having a business visa. Know the ways to apply for a business visa there!

To enter Indonesia to make a business trip legally, you should hold a business visa.

What is a Business Visa?

If you hold Indonesia a business visa, to have a business trip to Indonesia is a way easier. This visa grants you to enter Indonesia. You can even make the business trip over and over again in a year. This visa is obtained from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to those foreigners who want to do business activities and negotiations. If you hold this, you cannot work in Indonesia.



What Requirements Needed to Apply for?

Here are some following requirements for obtaining this business visa.
1.      Filling up the registration form that you can download in the website of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in your country.
2.      Having a valid passport. If you plan to make a business visa, make sure that your passport is still 18 months away from the first date of your coming to Indonesia.
3.      Providing recent photographs with high-quality photo paper.
4.      Having the receipt of business visa payment slip. Having this slip shows that you already make the payment that you transfer to the bank.
5.      Having the statement from your bank account in the last three months that you have minimum US$1,500 in your account. In case that you don’t don’t have the sponsorship or invitation from Indonesia, this amount of money will pay for your living in Indonesia.



-          Having the slip of the confirmed hotel booking and the tickets with the number of booking reference.
-          The invitation or sponsorship letter from Indonesian person or company. The letter should include the company’s official letterhead.
-           Having the copies of the Indonesian ID card or passport of your counterpart, family, or colleague that give you sponsorship or the invitation to Indonesia.
-          Having the copy of the approval from Indonesian immigration so that the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia can issue the business visa.

You can go to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in your country and apply for the business visa there. Before going to the embassy, you better check the embassy’s website and look at carefully what you should do to apply for a visa. You are going to save time.


How to Apply for?
There are two ways of applying for Indonesia business visa.
1.      By using the favor from the guarantor
-          The guarantor is usually Indonesian citizen. He will fill the registration form and submit it to Directorate General of Immigration of the Republic of Indonesia with your agreement.
-          The guarantor will pay for the business application administration fee.
-          The guarantor takes the copy of the approval visa letter. The immigration will send another copy to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in your country. The guarantor’s favor is done.
-          Later, you should go to the embassy to proceed the visa issuance.
-          You will have the entry stamp in the border once you arrive in Indonesia
2.      Doing it by yourself
-          You fill up the registration form and submit it to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia,
-          You pay the visa administration fee.
-          Later, the embassy will forward your visa application form to the Directorate General of Immigration of the Republic of Indonesia
-          If the immigration is approved, the embassy will issue your business visa.
-          You will obtain your first entry stamp in the border in your first date of arrival.


You need a business visa if you want to conduct the business trip to Indonesia. This visa is the legal permit that the government of Indonesia grants you to come to Indonesia for your business purpose.
